How to Stake WMTx

Participate in building the world’s first user-owned mobile network and get rewarded for it. Whether you’re using Base (EVM) or Cardano, this guide walks you through how to stake WMTx securely and easily, so you can support the network and start earning rewards along the way.

Before You Begin

To participate in Core Staking, ensure you have:

  • A self-custodial wallet compatible with Base (EVM) or Cardano
  • WMTx tokens in your wallet
  • Optional: ENNFT (Cardano only)

How to Stake WMTx via Cardano Vault

Cardano staking uses the Vault, a secure, self-custodial tool that gives you full control over your WMTx. Here’s how to get started:

Step 1: Go to the Staking Platform

Head to the World Mobile Staking page and click Stake on Cardano.

Step 2: Create Your Vault

Click on Create a new Vault now to begin the setup process.

And then click Next:

You’ll be asked to:

  • Write down your 24-word seed phrase and store it securely (this is crucial).
  • Set a passphrase: think of it as your Vault password.
  • Verify your email address. Use the same one as your old Vault if you want to recover past rewards.
  • Download and safely store your .JSON backup file. This gives you another way to recover your Vault if needed.

Step 3: Link Your Cardano Wallet

From your favorite self-custodial Cardano wallet, like Eternl, Lace, or Typhon, follow the on-screen steps.

You’ll be given a specific ADA amount (usually between 1.4–1.8 ADA) to send from your wallet to your own receive address. This step verifies that you own the wallet. Once confirmed, your staking goes live automatically.

After a couple of minutes, you should see a green “ACTIVE” label:

Step 4: Increase your stake with EN NFTs (Optional)

If you hold an EarthNode NFT in your wallet, it will automatically boost your staking weight by 100,000 WMTx per NFT, no extra steps needed.

WMTx Rewards Portal for Core Staking on Cardano

World Mobile upgraded the rewards experience for Vault users. Now, you can claim your staking rewards on your own schedule through our SundaeSwap-powered WMTx Rewards Portal.

Key details:

  • Rewards become claimable 72 hours after each staking period ends.
  • Each claim involves a small ADA gas fee.
  • Rewards can accumulate over multiple periods before claiming.
  • Important: Rewards will have an expiry date upon the launch of EarthNode Staking.

How to Claim Rewards:

  1. Check Vault: Click the active “Claim Rewards” button when available.
  2. Access Portal: You’ll be redirected to the SundaeSwap-powered WMTx Rewards Portal.
  3. Connect Wallet: Connect using the browser extension of either Eternl or Lace wallet. Ensure you connect the same wallet verified in your Vault.
  4. Review and Claim: View your rewards, then claim at your convenience. Remember the small ADA fee.

Important Note:

  • Claiming doesn’t affect your eligibility.
When you claim your rewards, they’re sent to your crypto wallet. This doesn’t reduce your wallet balance below the required snapshot amount, so you’ll still qualify for rewards next month.
  • What can cause you to lose next month’s rewards:
If you move the claimed rewards out of your wallet (e.g. send them elsewhere), and doing so causes your total wallet balance to drop below the snapshot amount, you’ll lose eligibility for next month’s rewards.
  • You’re safe if you add more WMTx after the snapshot.
If you’ve added more tokens after the snapshot and then move the claimed rewards, you may still be fine, as long as your wallet balance stays above the original snapshot threshold.

Option 2: Staking WMTx on Base (EVM)

Step-by-Step Guide:

  1. Access Staking Platform:

  1. Connect Your Wallet:
  • Select “Stake on EVM.”

  • Connect your Base-compatible wallet (MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet, Rabby).
  1. Stake Your Tokens:
  • Follow on-screen prompts to stake your desired amount of WMTx.
  • Ensure you have sufficient ETH on Base for transaction fees.
  1. Manage Your Stake:
  • Claim rewards or unstake at any time using the platform.
  • Note: Hardware wallet users must manually confirm transactions.

Understanding Epochs and Rewards

  • EVM Staking: Rewards are calculated and distributed monthly. Each epoch begins on the 1st of the following month after staking.
  • Cardano Staking: Monthly snapshots occur on the 1st of each month at 00:00 UTC. Tokens must be staked before this snapshot to qualify.
  • Annual Percentage Yield (APY): Up to 5%, based on network conditions and block production. Rewards are compounded monthly.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

:locked_with_key: Wallets & Setup

Can I stake from an exchange wallet?
No. Exchange wallets (like Binance or Coinbase) are not supported. You must use a self-custodial wallet such as MetaMask (for EVM) or Eternl, Nami, Lace, or Typhon (for Cardano).

Can I use Yoroi for Cardano staking?
Technically yes, but it’s not recommended. Yoroi hasn’t been updated for the latest staking features. We suggest using Eternl, Lace, or another modern wallet.

Can I stake using a hardware wallet?
Yes. Hardware wallets are supported, but you’ll need to manually approve staking and unstaking transactions.

Can I create multiple Vaults?
Absolutely. You can create multiple Vaults with different wallet addresses and emails, even on the same device.

:chart_increasing: Staking Rewards & Epochs

What’s the APY for Core Staking?
Up to 5% APY, variable based on network activity and participation. EarthNode staking (coming soon) is expected to offer higher returns.

Do I need to stake immediately to earn rewards?
No rush. For Cardano, you must stake before the 1st of each month at 00:00 UTC. For Base (EVM), epochs also start on the 1st and run for 30 days.

Is there a lock-up period?
No lock-in period. You can unstake anytime. But if you unstake before the epoch ends, you won’t earn rewards for that period.

What happens if I claim rewards early on Base?
Claiming rewards on Base requires unstaking, which resets your epoch and forfeits rewards for the current one. On Cardano, you can claim without affecting your stake.

:counterclockwise_arrows_button: Migration & Recovery

Can I use my old Vault from before the migration?
No. Legacy Vaults are no longer supported. You must create a new Vault. Use the same email address and Cardano wallet to ensure any past rewards can be linked in a future update.

How do I recover unclaimed rewards from previous staking?
Create a new Vault using your old email and wallet address. Unclaimed rewards will become visible once the recovery system is live (coming soon).

Do I need to export the .JSON backup file?
Yes, it’s strongly recommended. It adds an extra recovery method if you lose your browser data or device. Still, your 24-word seed and passphrase are enough if saved securely.

:globe_with_meridians: Cross-Chain & Bridge

Can I stake WMTx from Ethereum or BNB?
Not directly. To stake, you must bridge ETH-WMTx to Base using the official Chainlink Transporter Bridge. BNB is not yet supported.

Can I switch my WMTx from Base back to Cardano?
Yes, but you’ll need to use a compatible bridge. Visit the WM Bridge page for details.

:hammer_and_wrench: Troubleshooting

What if the staking site goes down?

  • Cardano: Your WMTx remains in your wallet. Staking continues via blockchain snapshots.
  • Base: Your WMTx is held in a smart contract. You can explore it via BaseScan or similar tools if needed.

I’m not receiving the confirmation email, what do I do?
Check your spam/junk folders. If it’s not there, try resending from the Vault settings or use a different email. Still stuck? Contact [email protected].

Is staking restricted in any countries?
No restrictions are currently in place. VPNs are no longer required.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

"Email already registered" error

This usually happens when you’ve previously started creating a Vault with the same email on that browser.
Fix: Clear your browser cache and cookies. If that doesn’t help, try using a different browser or incognito mode.

Wallet verification not working (Cardano)

If your wallet isn’t verifying, it’s often because the ADA amount wasn’t sent correctly.
Fix: Copy your receive address from your wallet and send the exact ADA amount shown in the Vault app to that same address. Wait a few minutes and refresh the page.

Issues with Coinbase Wallet (Base staking)

Some users report transaction failures when using Coinbase Wallet on Base.
Fix: Try switching to Rabby or MetaMask, which are known to work smoothly with the EVM staking app.

Can’t restore your old Vault

Legacy Vaults from previous staking rounds are no longer supported.
Fix: You must create a new Vault. Use the same email address and Cardano wallet you used before to ensure any old rewards can be linked later.

Forgot which email you used

If you’re unsure which email was tied to your old Vault:
Fix: Check your browser’s saved form data or cookies. If you no longer have access to that device, contact [email protected] and provide proof of wallet ownership.

Still not seeing your WMTx after setup

Sometimes your wallet balance or staking status takes a moment to update.
Fix: Give it a few minutes and do a hard refresh (Ctrl + F5). If it still doesn’t appear, double-check that your WMTx is in the wallet address linked to your Vault.

Not receiving verification email

Make sure your email address is typed correctly.
Fix: Check your spam/junk folder. If still nothing arrives, try using a different email or contact support for manual verification.

Security Tips

Your Vault and WMTx are only as secure as your habits. Follow these best practices to keep your assets safe:

:locked_with_key: Backup & Recovery

  • Write down your 24-word seed phrase and Vault passphrase and store them offline in a safe place. These are your keys to access your Vault.
  • Export and store your .JSON backup file as an extra recovery option. It’s useful if you ever switch devices or browsers.

Tip: You don’t need the .JSON file if you’ve saved your seed and passphrase, but having both adds an extra layer of security.

:prohibited: Avoid Scams

  • Never share your seed phrase or passphrase with anyone. No support team, mod, or admin will ever ask for them.
  • Watch out for fake websites. Always double-check the URL:
  • Confirm the site uses HTTPS and has a valid certificate.

:man_gesturing_no: Stay Alert to Impersonators

  • Admins will NEVER DM you. If someone messages you privately claiming to be support, it’s a scam. Report and block them immediately.
  • All support happens in public channels or through worldmobile.club/help.

Stay cautious, stay staked, and stay in control.

I’ve claimed my rewards, can I use or transfer them right away? I’m a bit confused, because I read that moving them might forfeit this month’s staking rewards?

No, if you transfer them, you will loose your staking rewards for the current month, unless you deposit more than you are taking away first. The rule is, the balence should never go below the snapshot balance at anytime.
