[Pre-Launch] Hex Guardian Questions & Thoughts Before Q1 Launch

,

The launch of the Hex Guardian program is very exciting and I’m eager to see what it will bring to World Mobile in 2025 - but it also comes with many questions. I’ve organized my thoughts and concerns to spark a discussion with future Hex Guardians & operators.

Infrastructure Deployment

Being successful as a Hex Guardian will heavily depend on our ability to deploy infrastructure effectively. Here are my main concerns:

  1. With multiple US cities being targeted simultaneously (all much larger than Reno!), how will hardware availability be managed?
  2. If device stock is limited, what’s the distribution strategy? Personally, I believe it would be better to have one hex at 90% coverage than 10 hexes at 2% - coverage over hex quantity
  3. How do we align our marketing and customer acquisition with hardware availability? We’ll need solid data from World Mobile to plan effectively
  4. How does equipment coverage (like Titan’s 12km radius) align with hex boundaries? This seems important for efficient infrastructure planning
  5. What’s the strategy for managing coverage overlap between neighboring hexes? Will there be coordination mechanisms between adjacent Hex Guardians?

Hex Valuation & Investment

The investment & opportunity aspect keeps me up at night - in a good way! But there are some key questions:

  1. I heard exciting revenue potential on the call, but how do we balance that against initial investment? How do we evaluate if 5K WMTx or 200K WMTx is worth it for a specific hex? It would be difficult to justify investing a house worth on pure opportunity if it leads to no or little activity down the line.
  2. What data will we have access to for evaluating different hexes? (population density, income levels, existing infrastructure, etc.)
  3. Beyond the NFT purchase, what other capital should we be prepared to invest?
  4. What are the legal responsibilities of a Hex Guardian?

Revenue Model & Pricing Control

This is where it gets interesting for business planning:

  1. How much control will we have over subscription pricing?
  2. Will we be able to run our own promotions and marketing campaigns to incentivize subscriber acquisition?
  3. How will the revenue be split between all stakeholders (WM, Guardians, operators, stakers)?
  4. How can we ensure we’re competitive in local markets while maintaining profitability and alignment with other national hexes?

Customer Support & Service Management

WM coverage and speed might be really good in one location but not in another. As someone who might be managing a hex, I’m particularly curious about:

  1. Where does World Mobile’s support end and the Guardian’s begin?
  2. What happens when key infrastructure fails? What tools will we have to manage customer satisfaction?
  3. How will we handle customer communications during network expansion or maintenance?

Remote Hex Management

As someone considering managing a hex from abroad, I have several practical concerns:

  1. What local presence is required for successful remote management?
  2. What operational aspects absolutely require boots on the ground versus what can be managed remotely?

What are your thoughts? Are you considering becoming a Hex Guardian? What other questions should we be asking?

I am adding to the existing list of questions with more technical inquiries regarding the integration and configuration of antennas within the network.

1. Initial Configuration and Setup

  • Who is responsible for assigning unique identifiers (e.g., Cell ID, Site ID), configuring supported frequencies, and defining physical parameters (e.g., azimuth, tilt, height, Tx power)?

  • Will these tasks be managed by World Mobile or the Hex Guardian?

  • If it’s the Hex Guardian, will World Mobile provide the necessary tools and training?

  • For integrating antenna information into the OSS (Operational Support System) for management, does World Mobile handle this process, or will the Hex Guardian be responsible?

2. Alignment with Neighboring Antennas

  • Regarding frequency planning, who ensures proper coordination within a HEX and across its borders to avoid overlap or interference?

  • Who manages neighbor updates, such as defining the neighbor list and testing relationships, and the optimization of handover parameters (e.g., RSSI/RSRP thresholds)?

  • If these tasks are under the Hex Guardian’s responsibility, does World Mobile provide tools or technical support to facilitate the process?

3. Connectivity and Synchronization Tests

  • Who ensures proper IP connectivity with the core network and conducts RF verification (e.g., interference scanning, KPI testing)?

  • If the Hex Guardian is responsible for these tasks, does World Mobile supply the necessary resources and support?

4. Parameterization Strategy

  • Is there a global parameterization strategy for the network, or does each HEX define its own (e.g., attachment frequency, load balancing, handover thresholds, MIMO)?

  • Who is in charge of ensuring QoS (Quality of Service)? Will it be centralized under World Mobile, or is each Hex Guardian responsible for their respective zones?

  • Should active monitoring be set up via the NOC (Network Operations Center) to detect and resolve anomalies?
