Link AirNode | Features, Cost & Earnings

The Link AirNode is a fixed wireless receiver typically installed at homes or businesses within the coverage range of an Apex AirNode. It provides subscribers with reliable, high-speed internet connectivity exactly where they need it.

Unlike other AirNodes, Link AirNodes are specifically endpoint devices for customer premises. They operate in conjunction with Apex AirNodes, effectively bridging the final connection to users.

When units are in stock, you can buy them directly through the Club Store.

Setup

Link AirNodes are pre-installed by World Mobile at a Host location, you don’t need to find one or cooperate with one for purchasing or setup.

How Earning Rewards Works

World Mobile’s model rewards Operators based on actual network usage.

For Link AirNodes, Operators earn rewards from the subscriber’s monthly plan fee. These can range anywhere from $96 to $1,140 per year, depending on the chosen plan.

How much could this device earn over its lifetime?

Monthly rewards vary depending on which package the subscriber is on. World Mobile offers multiple plans-some for homes, others for businesses-at different price points.

Here are some example lifetime earnings estimates, taking the lowest and highest plans:

  • $1,344 - based on a subscriber on the lowest plan ($8/month)
  • $15,960 - based on a subscriber on the highest business plan ($95/month)

Several pricing tiers are available between the lowest and highest plans. Actual rewards may vary depending on plan changes over time (upgrades, downgrades, or cancellations).

How soon could this device pay for itself?

This depends entirely on the plan the subscriber is on:

  • $8/month plan: payback in roughly 8 years and 3 months
  • $95/month plan: payback in just about 8.3 months

Note: Several pricing tiers are available between the lowest and highest plans.

ok - I have 3 link nodes, and 10 spark nodes.

I’ve acquired the Sparks in December and expecting an ROI of around 2.7 years.

Hi
I have a question regarding the Link Airnodes. In the estimated earnings it says we could potentially earn between $8 - $95 per month depending on the subscriber package. How is it determined which LINK I can purchase and therefore which subscriber package the customer has, because it clearly influences or effects how much earning potential I have as the owner. Also is there a possibility of earning $0 per month if the customer chooses not to subscribe to World Mobile plan?

Hi @TMRJ,

Currently, when you purchase a Link AirNode, it’s not possible to select in advance which subscriber package will be associated with it or where exactly it will be deployed. This means that the earnings potential does vary and isn’t predictable upfront, unlike the Spark AirNode which provides clearer and more stable earnings.

If your Link AirNode is placed at a busy business location, the potential earnings can be significantly higher, allowing you to potentially recover your investment within just a few months at higher-tier subscriber plans. Conversely, if it’s placed at an everyday family home, the ROI will likely be more modest, as families typically won’t spend hundreds of dollars per month on internet access.

Regarding your concern about potentially earning $0: this scenario is quite unlikely. World Mobile’s model is designed so that if a subscriber cancels their subscription, the AirNode can be redeployed to another active customer location. This helps ensure continuous earnings for operators.

In the future, especially with the global rollout of HD1, there might be more visibility into Link deployment locations and earning potential, but right now that level of details isn’t available.

IMO - Links are a bit more like a lottery, you hope to avoid getting the subscriber on the lowest subscription tier. It’s all worth it if you get the business one though. If you prefer to derisk your exposure, investing in Sparks or aiming for Portal / Apex would be a better investment.
