Do I need to recover my old Vault, or just create a new one?

Quick question about setting up staking again, the new Vault page gives the option to “recover,” but I’ve seen posts saying we’re supposed to create a new Vault instead.

Can someone confirm: is recovery only for Vaults created recently?
If I had a Vault from the old staking system, should I just make a new one with the same email and Cardano wallet?

If your Vault was from the old staking system (before the migration to WMTx), you should create a new Vault. The “Recover” option only works for Vaults created in the current version (if you had already set one up recently and saved the .json backup).

For legacy users, the correct approach is:

  1. Create a new Vault
  2. Use the same email address and Cardano wallet you used before
  3. Go through the verification step (sending ADA to yourself)

That’s the setup that will link your new Vault to any old rewards once legacy reward recovery goes live.

It’s a bit confusing since “Recover” sounds like it might work for older Vaults, but unfortunately those aren’t compatible.
