“User not found in database” error when restoring Vault

I’m trying to set up my Vault and keep getting a message that says “user not found in database.” Anyone know what this means or how to fix it?

Hey @taline,

That message usually means the Vault you’re trying to restore was never fully created, or the browser has lost the data it needs (like if cookies or local storage were cleared).

It can also happen if you’re using a different browser or device than the one you originally used. The Vault is stored locally in your browser, so if that data isn’t there anymore, the system won’t find anything to restore.

Since the WMT to WMTx migration, everyone needs to create a new Vault to take part in the new staking system — even if you had a Vault before. The “Recover” option only works for Vaults made with the new system (after the migration), not from the old staking phase.

If you’re hoping to recover legacy rewards later on, just be sure to use the same email address and Cardano wallet you used before.
